All drawings are done in color pencil on black paper, and are in small format. They range in size from about 3 x 5 inches to about 5.5 x 8.5 inches.

My drawings were originally inspired by a trip to Nepal in 1993 when I needed a portable medium. Since then I have taken photos and worked from them, whether from a trip abroad, or more local travels; or just finding subjects that interest me.

In 2000 I started drawing “urban fixtures,” industrial fixtures found all around us, such as the water and gas caps embedded in the sidewalk, bolts that are used on bridge fences, manhole covers, etc. This has led to an interest in the small details that one encounters in everyday life.
